Cue and Go

Yesterday I hanged out with one of my best guy friends, who is like a big brother to me, Yang. We went to Wendy's for lunch and then headed to his place to watch 10 Cloverfield Lane. Definitely a thriller that got me afraid and scared and hiding behind a pillow to embrace what will happen next in the film. After that we went to play some Billiards. I'm not the best at it, but for a rookie like me, we tied! 2-2. Woo!! It was a really nice day to catch up before we go off to college. I know it will not be the last time I'll see this big fellow of mine. I wish him the best at UCSD and all his future endeavors. Que the cue stick and aim it wherever you want and plan to discover and explore. And don't forget, have fun along the way.

Long Overdue

The last two months of high school was definitely a challenge for me as you may know from previous posts. Fortunately, food always helps along the way! One time my sister brought home so Thai desserts, which are crispy crepe-like fortune cookies with coconut milk cream and salt. They were pretty good! Very crunchy! Another time for lunch, my parents and I went to Hanashima. I think it was a collaboration day, so I got out of school earlier than other students. I got ramen with shrimp tempura, a Special that day. On a weekend, my family and I went to King's Hawaiian Bakery and Restaurant in Torrance. I got Royale Omelet, with hash browns and a blueberry muffin. So so good! Very filling and nice service. After that, we headed to the Mitsuwa Marketplace. It is a Japanese market, there's a food court there and little shops to go to as well inside. We go some groceries along the way and stopped by at Mochido for their mochi donuts and mochi. The mochi were really chewy and delicious.
There's too many to list! Just a few more though! Very late but definitely great foods to share with everyone! This next one is not something you can get though. My sister makes the best avocado and egg toast. So delicious! I think she was the one who got me to start loving avocados! They are really good and healthy for you. They give you the good fats so if you need some healthy snack, have an avocado! Now the first time I went to Sweet Lab was back in April. My mom, sister, and I took me out (when I was drowning myself in my psych studies) that afternoon. I'm so glad they did. We had mango flavor ice cream with egg waffles. It was so good! A little taste of Hong Kong before I go there this summer! So stoked! For the food of course, not the humidity. The next picture you will see is of a duck pizza. Yes you read it right folks, duck pizza. My sister wanted to try it so she and my mom went to go Savoy Really good actually. Something different from your typical pizza toppings.

In May, one time my sister took my mom and I to Dingle Berries. We got There's Something About Mango and Son of a Peach. It's definitely located at a place you would never think would have a drink place, but there's quite a lot of people who know this shop. Definitely a place you may want to check out. I would go again someday soon!
Last week of senior year! I was sick, but I am always up for a food adventure! Wednesday my mom took me out and I decided to try something new. Another Japanese place. Gatten Sushi. I liked the fried salmon skins! So delicious, but so unhealthy. But it's okay, I don't eat them that often. Since my mom and I aren't raw sushi fans, we ordered udon and a chicken teriyaki bowl. They were very small bowls. I would say this place is best for people who love sushi. It's a little bit expensive though. The following day my mom and I had lunch at Tasty Choice. i really loved the tomato soup. It tasted like homemade soup a person would drink to get better when you are sick. It definitely made my throat feel better as well. I loved the wonton noodle soup too! My mom says it's close to HK's wonton noodle soup. I will see for myself when I go! My mom ordered a chicken dish. It was also good as well. On the last day of school, we went to eat at Embassy Kitchen for lunch. It was excellent! The food was clear and yummy. I loved the lotus rice dish. If you go, definitely open it up so the rice is not too moist when you have some. On graduation day, my family took me out for dinner and went to New Capital Seafood Restaurant. Definitely a must go again. The service was amazing! A wonderful meal to end my senior year. (:

Beginnings of Summer Adventures

Happy First Day of Summer everyone! It's been pretty hot these past few days so hopefully everyone is staying cool. Summer started on a good note for me. My big sister decided to take a week off from work to go on little food adventures together.

On the 30th of May, as a family we went to Veggie Grill and made a dessert stop after. I got a combo that included a Seasonal Soup Bowl and 1/2 Savory Kale Caesar. Very healthy and simple. For a little fattening on the side, at Bengees we got one scoop of banana nut ice cream in a glazed cronut, topped with walnuts and got one scoop of toasted almonds ice cream (not featured below) in a glazed cronut, topped with almonds.

The next day my mom, sister, and I went to Shake Shack and Greystone Mansion. The burgers were really good. The bun was so so soft! As for the mansion, it was literally a maze. It was fun though, walking around. We even saw some people filming. Afterwards, we headed to Milk since we are in the Hollywood area. We had a watermelon ice cream macaroon and doubled scoop ice cream with the flavors coconut and blueberry crumble pie. We ordered the chocolate moon pie and red velvet cupcake for Dad.

On the first day of June, we girls went to Koreatown  and ate at Beverly Soon Tofu Restaurant. We ordered a combo, Soon Tofu and Bibimbap. I love the Soon Tofu that had mushroom and beef in it. So good! Something about soups and mushrooms always agree with my appetite. And off we went to a donut shop! Fantastic Donuts! My sister and I heard about it and always wanted to try it. They have these super duper cute faces on the donuts. Too cute to eat! Ahh!

For the second day of June, we went to a little dessert place closer to home in Alhambra, Creme Bee. I personally thought it was a little too sweet because we ordered two to share. Too much honey for one day.

Finally Friday! Dad was off so my dad, mom, and I went to eat at ramen place, Ramen Yukino Ya. I got Tonkotsu. It was pretty good! I love ramen and basically all noodles. It was a nice day just to hang out with my parents. I will miss this when I go to college!!! Wahh!

On the weekends, I got a sisterly date with my big sister at the movie theatres. We watched Captain America: Civil War. The following week, I went out with some high school friends, Ye and Kai. We met up at Tea Brick. I had no idea they changed the containers of their drinks until that day. It's cute and convenient to take on the go. We headed to the theatres after and watched X-Men: Apocalypse. I learned to never ever drink tea before a movie... A wonderful day well spend with my two lovely English buddies before we head to college. That weekend, my family had a little dessert  trip to Sweet Lab! We got a strawberry ice cream with egg waffles. Super good! Unfortunately the ice cream was a little sour, but it worked well with the egg waffles at the end.

In the spirit of my college, I've been in the Titan spirit lately. I decided to make some elephant origami figures. Take a long time but totally worth it! I can't wait to be a Titan! Last week I had my freshman orientation. It was pretty fun. Some complications with class scheduling, but other that, it was really fun. I loved the view on the terrace at the Mihaylo College building.  We had a business social there. The view was breathtaking.
The day after I hanged out with my lovely friend Susan. I met her back in high school (that makes me feel old haha). She's going to be a sophomore in college this coming year. I haven't seen her since last summer. She's like another big sister to me. We can talk for hours and it feels like barely any time has past. It was definitely a good day. She treated me out at Hooshik, with a Green Tea Falling Snow and Yuzu Tea, to celebrate my graduation from high school. So sweet of her. This past weekend, I had a family gathering at my grandma's house. Very nice to see everyone again before I go off to college. Good food and good company as usual. Loved my Auntie Sharon and Uncle Tommy's cake as always. The little cakes topped with chocolate frosting and little crystals for lettering are amazing. It was actually my breakfast today too. (: They were very thoughtful and gave me and my cousin gifts for college. I will definitely use them in my years at CSUF!
I can definitely say my summer has been so far so good. Hopefully everyone else is as well!
