Week 14

Another week of some crazy firsts in just a single week. This past week I got to see a band I love, Against the Current, at my school, went to an Awards Banquet and presented the award to my professor, and did technical directing for Titan Weekly.

April 27: Last last Friday, I requested to do TD (technical director) for the Titan Weekly show for the following week. How it works is we have to email what position we like to do to the production coordinator and then we will be added to the show. This past Monday, the production coordinator emailed me back saying sure. I included in my email that another person who is more experienced should also be on it, since it will be my first time technical directing, but I've been trained. One other person was listed next to my name (She has the same first name as me, still so cool!) on the official list. Then Thursday, April 27, I was the technical director! We had technical difficulties again, but we managed and put on a good show. Can't wait to see it on YouTube soon.

April 26: The BH Awards Banquet finally arrived. I was so so nervous to present the award to my professor. It was the first time I'm presenting an award to someone very important (I did it once, but it was a fellow friend.. I don't think it counts..). I didn't want to mess up the names of the nominees for the award and that day I had a speech as well in the morning for my public speaking class. Nerves on nerves. BUT I did it! I didn't say anyone's name wrong. However, my nervousness definitely showed... But who wouldn't be nervous for something like this. Plus I am a freshman so all of it was so new to me. It was an honor to present the award to my professor with nerves and all.

April 24: Monday. The only reason I was excited for Monday was Against the Current, a band I discovered through Spotify, was playing at my very own school! It was so cool! Despite missing most of the performance due to class, I made it to 1.25 songs. The last song they played was "Gravity," and it is my favorite song. I got to take a selfie with them too! It was amazing. Definitely worth rushing to see after my macroeconomics class. Below is a little video I captured that day. Enjoy!(To watch it you have to use Firefox or Chrome, Safari does not work. Sorry about that!)

Have a wonderful rest of the weekend folks! Time for me to hit the haystack and wake up tomorrow to study for my exams. Stay tuned.

19 on 19

On April 19, I received the best news ever in a long time. I am officially going to do an internship in Fall 2017! AHHH!
In my Spring Break post, I mentioned I took a whack at something. This was it! I found an internship that was looking for college juniors or seniors. I decided to email the company, since I am only a college freshman. It never hurts to ask. It is better to know than to always question what if. And what do you know? They asked for my resume! The next thing I knew I was asked to come in for an interview. It went well, but the only thing was whether or not I can get academic credit for doing the internship. That was the only requirement of me. It took me about two weeks to collect all the information about getting academic credit at CSUF or at a community college nearby my home. At first I was planning to do the internship during the summer but with complications, the fall was the better choice. I explained the situation and asked if I can do the internship during the fall. I got a call this past Wednesday and she said yes! I'm super duper excited for the Fall semester now.
Things are looking up for me. I'm ready to learn so much during the internship. Stay tuned during the Fall 2017!

Fish+Tea=Joy

Back in school with lots of work and things on my mind, but there is no better way to give yourself some time to get away from all that than food. To be specific, fish tacos and tea. My friend Theresa asked if I wanted to get fish tacos and I jumped on board when I found out it was at a place I never been to and how cheap they were. I went with Theresa, Ekin, and Arnold to Baja California Fish Tacos and each taco cost $1.15. They were really good! They had a little kick (not in a spicy kind of way) to it, with the spices and ingredients they used but in a good way. The taste gave me a flavor of home actually, as if I had something quite similar back home. I think it has to do with the tacos my family gets back in the day in elementary school at school open houses. It brought me back to those feels when life was simpler and those days I loved eating those tacos with a spicy kick sometimes. Then we went to ShareTea, and I never got anything there the first time I went (had tummy issues). I got an earl grey tea, half-sweetened and completely loved the sweet but a little bitter after taste like tea should have. Definitely would come back to try other teas and get an earl grey tea again.

Spring Break with a Bang

A week goes by when you are being semi-productive and eating food. Spring break came to a close today, but I ended mine with a Lakers game! All thanks to my professor who got us a field trip to Staples Center to meet some executive staff members and learn about what they do. It was amazing! Listening to them and watching my first Lakers game, first basketball game. It was definitely an incredible experience, plus the suite life for a day. An experience I will not forget.
Besides today, I spend more time with my mom while working on homework for school. More like do some assignments, start some, beforehand, so they don't bite me later when the due dates inch closer. I took a whack at something too during spring break and I'll be sure to tell you guys all about it once I see how it goes this week. Lots of good eating occurred this week too. Not all are pictured in this post because I was too excited to dig into food back in my hometown. Excuse moi. Nevertheless, I'm a happy camper but a little less since tomorrow school starts again. For now, I'm enjoying the last hours before my first class tomorrow.
        Have a great week everyone!
